GRAMMAR LESSON (1) PART 3 continued The Sentence- 16.04.2020

Welcome back boys! Hope you had a quiet Easter break at home with your loved ones.😊😊
Time to carry on with our lesson , The Sentence.

In our last lesson, we learnt about two kinds of sentences; Declarative and Exclamatory sentences.   Today, we focus on Interrogative and Imperative sentences.
Let's watch this video again to recall what we have learnt
 earlier.  Here we go!
Hope you enjoyed watching the video.
Now, let's focus on the set of sentences given below:-
* Is it cold outside?
 *Where do you live?
*Do you want tea or coffee?
* What did you learn in the previous lesson?
Observe  that all  the above sentences ask questions.
Hence, a sentence that asks a question is called an interrogative or a question sentence.

REMEMBER!

We place a  question mark (? )  at the end of an Interrogative sentence.

Now, observe  the  sentences listed below.
*Close the door!
*Please pass the bowl of curry.
*Please join us for dinner.
* Revise all that we learnt today.
*Finish your homework!
Notice  that all the above sentences give/ express  a command, a request or an advice.
Hence, a  sentence that expresses a command , a request  or an advice  is called   an imperative  sentence.

IMPORTANT   NOTE!
You may be wonderingπŸ’πŸ˜•πŸ’ how does one identify an imperative sentence?
Well, you must keep the  following in mind while identifying imperative sentences:-

1st----- forceful commands end with an exclamation mark. Example - Close the door! Leave at once! etc,
2nd--------------polite or gentle commands,   end with a full stop. ( even advice)
3rd------- take a look at the  verb   . Usually, imperative sentences begin with verbs that issue a command.
4th----- the subject of an imperative sentence  is implied . In other words, the subject is ' hidden'.

So, let's revise what we've learnt so far in brief.  Time for some written work. Here we go!
