Grammar lesson 1 ( PART 1)THE SENTENCE 8.4.2020

Grammar  lesson  PART 1        The Sentence.
Welcome back students! 😊😊
Hope you have completed your Literature work .  Please remember that your work will be evaluated once school reopens, so I do  hope you are serious about regular completion of work and intend  submitting quality work.
Work which is untidy and haphazard will not be assessed

 Now let's begin !
At the end of the lesson you will be able to :-
  •  define a sentence.
  • differentiate between the four different types of sentences .
  •  learn how to create correct sentences by focussing on correct sentence structure.

Observe the following group of words:
 *  need i  stationery  some   ;                 *  ball in  the field;                * Prizes gave in school
                                                      *  rain heavy fall ;

Do the above make sense?
Well, what you're thinking is  right!    None of the above group of words make complete sense.  None of them express a complete idea.

Now observe the following group of words :
*   I need  some stationery.                                      *  The prizes were given in school.
                                              *  July and August are months of heavy rain.

Did you notice that
: the above group of words are placed in their proper order to make complete sense?
: each sentence begins with a capital letter and has a full stop at the end.
Needless to say, all  the above are examples of sentences !
A   SENTENCE  is   therefore,  a group of words  that express  a complete idea and has a  subject  and  a  verb.  It has a full stop , a question mark or an exclamation mark at the end.

Sentences are of different kinds. You may recall learning about each kind in your previous class.  We will be doing the kinds of sentences in our subsequent lessons.

Now let's focus on the task at hand! I want you to be ready with your English Language exercise books. Keep in mind the following :-
