There 's  a lot to do ! 😲😲  Let's begin at once!

By the end of today's lesson, you will be able to:-

  •  define collective nouns
  •  use suitable collective nouns to complete a given sentence
  •  recall the concept of proper and common nouns

What does the word ,  collection,  mean ?   💭💭

Well, you're right  if you 've thought of the word,  group !

So, when we wish to  give  a  name  to a group or collection of people, animals , things or ideas, we call it a COLLECTIVE NOUN

Let's  take a good look at the images below showing a collection of  people, animals and things .

Words   like    team,  army,  gang, gaggle, set, crowd etc  are names of a collection of persons  or things taken together  and spoken  as ONE WHOLE!

NOTE!!       Collective nouns  may appear to be common nouns  but they are slightly different from the ordinary common nouns. They stand  for /represent a collection.
